Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this similar to Functional Medicine?
There is a good deal of overlap between Lifestyle Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Functional Medicine. They all aim to address the root cause of disease and symptoms and prioritize natural and less invasive treatment methods when appropriate. Prevention of disease is also a priority.
  • Will my insurance cover my appointment?
Currently, we accept Medicare, BluePlus, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UCARE, Humana, and Medica. Insurance coverage may vary depending on the diagnoses and symptoms you are seeking evaluation and treatment for and the particular plan that you have. We are happy to answer any coverage questions prior to your appointment or to discuss self pay fees if your insurance will not cover your visits.
  • Are you a primary care provider?
We complement the care that you receive from your primary care provider, but do not replace it. We will work with your existing care team and keep them up-to-date on your progress, if you desire. We are limiting our practice to mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, addiction; hormonal concerns; and cardiometabolic concerns, such as high cholesterol, insulin resistance (prediabetes or type 2 diabetes), heart disease, weight gain, high blood pressure, along with those who are looking to age healthily.
  • Do you prescribe medications?
Yes, when appropriate, medications may be used for treatment in addition to other modalities.
